The other day, I paid a visit to the workshop in Gunma where Mr. Hagiwara works on his daily production.
Unlike the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, we passed through the quiet, lush mountains to Tomioka and Myogi in Gunma.

First, you will be greeted by our beloved dog, Yanti.
The workshop, which was renovated from an old storehouse, was lined with countless pieces of pottery in various stages of production.
It is still white before the glaze is applied.
From here it changes to a stunning blue.

This is what it looks like before going into the kiln.
It seems difficult to complete it from here without it cracking.

Some of them are even broken.

Downstairs from the workshop, the finished pottery pieces were lined up in a corner of the souvenir shop run by Hagiwara's family.

After we had a look around and the meeting was over,
Enjoy tempura soba noodles filled with local specialties.

The weather was nice and it was a pleasant day.
We bought some grilled manju, soba noodles, and even pickled plums as souvenirs before heading home.

Thank you Hagiwara-san for letting us take a look around.
I'm looking forward to the solo exhibition even more.
Thank you for your cooperation on the day.
P.S.
Until the day of the exhibition, you can also see Hagiwara's work on Instagram.
Please check it out.
